"All-American Girl" Carrie Underwood on America
July 3, 2008 — There’s a hint of patriotism in the trappings of Carrie Underwood’s success. She came to prominence on a TV show that carries the nation’s name, "American Idol"; and she likewise earned a hit this year with "All-American Girl."
Not surprisingly, Carrie is a big fan of her U.S. heritage.
"America really is the land of opportunity," she told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "It's the only place in the world that I could try out for some show and win and...amongst hundreds of thousands of people...and go on to do great things. I mean, it's just the land of 'anything could happen.' The people in it are what makes it great."
Carrie is now one of the most popular people in the land. She was granted membership in May in the Grand Ole Opry, and now comes word that she’s one of the Top 10 most-searched-for women on the all-female web database Chickipedia.com. Carrie ranks No. 4 on that list for the month of June; her friend, Taylor Swift, appears at No. 6.
Chickipedia’s Top 10 includes:
1. Megan Fox
2. Jessica Alba
3. Miranda Kerr
4. Carrie Underwood
5. Mandy Moore
6. Taylor Swift
7. Christina Ricci
8. Victoria Silvstedt
9. Demi Moore
10. Nikki Cox
