Carrie Underwood's "Elvis" talks to CarrieNEWS!
CarrieNEWS Exclusive!

I'm sure most of you are familiar with Carrie Underwood's newest music video, "Last Name," which features quite a few wedding chapel scenes featuring "Elvis." Johnny Thompson is one of the premier Elvis impersonators and is starring as Elvis in "Last Name." Johnny was kind enough to take some time to talk with CarrieNEWS about his experiences in the making of "Last Name" and we're happy to share those experiences with you. What better way to begin the 4th year of CarrieNEWS.com than to talk to "Elvis!" So, without further ado, here he is,
The King...
First off let me say I really enjoyed your website devoted to Carrie. Simply Amazing!
I will try to make this short.
Recently I was cast to play the Elvis in Carrie's video "Last Name", The director seemed to really like what I did in the audition and my look, so I was lucky to get the part.
Basically when Carrie and her crew showed up at the Wedding Chapel in Vegas the sun had just gone down, and the temperature had dropped about 15 degrees. We were originally suppose to shoot the video outside in front of the wedding chapel ( Chapel of the Flowers) in Las Vegas.
I took my mark ( the place you stand in front of the camera) Carrie got out of the limo/suv. came up and introduced herself, as if I didnt know who she was..lol. The crew was adjusting lights and cameras etc. and the longer we stood there, the colder it got. Now there were the other two actors, the "Boyfriend" who was an actor/model from Atlanta, and the girl who played "Priscilla" an actress from Las Vegas. As the temp dropped Carrie started shivering, and shaking. So I put my arms around Carrie and the other girl and tried to keep them warm. Finally she begged the director to let us move everything inside where it was warmer. So we ended up hanging out for about an hour while the crew set everything up inside. It made more sense anyway, the winds out side had picked up and were blowing like crazy.
Now, to let you know just how sweet she was, my manager back in New York who is a huge Carrie Fan, was home taking care of her mom who had just been diagnosed with Cancer. I had brought a couple of photos of Carrie that had been taken from CMT's website of her walking the red carpet the night before in Nashville. She signed them without hesitation, and the get well card for my managers mom. She wrote a little note to her also. Of course they adore the photos and card.
So during the shoot I got to ask her about being from OK. (Im a Texan myself) I asked her if she had every heard of Tahlequa, OK and her eyes lit up and she said " I went to School There!" She asked how the heck I knew about Tahlequa, I told her I had stayed in the dorms there a couple of summers and trained at some martial arts camps.
I have to be honest, we joked around alot and had a great time on the set. When the director finally yelled action, I was making up all kinds of goofy wedding vows and making her and the cast and crew laugh. It was so much fun. If you notice her putting the ring on the guys finger in the video, that was one of my rings.
I can't say enough how sweet and pleasant she was. I have interviewed many stars and worked with many celebs over the years and she was still so down to earth. I was thrilled to get to know her.
A month later when she appeared on the ACMA Awards, I was suppose to come on stage with her, but one of the ACMA executives was married to an Elvis Impersonator and she wanted her husband to come out with her. The other producers were upset because he wasn't the Elvis in the Video, I was, so they let him do a commercial break from back stage. I didn't get to come out with her. I did get a ticket from the producers and had to set with the crews familys during the show. I wanted to run and jump on stage with her. lol.
I didn't get to see her afterwards unfortunately.
I know one day I will see her again and we will have a few laughs.
Please check out my website for the video, and more about my celebrity interviews as the official Elvis of MTV and VH1.
Thanks Rich, Keep up the Good work because Carrie deserves it!
Im a huge Carrie Underwood Fan!
Johnny Thompson
