Sexist Society? Carrie Underwood Explains Why She Wants to Be Single

LOS ANGELES —  Carrie Underwood is certainly living the fairy-tale existence most young women can't even dream about. She's got the looks, the money and the career — but while she doesn't have the man, Underwood says she is more than happy to stay single.

"If I found something worth finding by now I would have made time for it, but right now I'm so busy I don't need a boyfriend," she told Tarts. "This year is the year for me to be on the road and focus just on myself. That's what I want."

But is Underwood (who has been in romantic relationships with the likes of Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo and "Gossip Girls" star Chace Crawford) trying to prove a point that she don't need no male to enhance her profile or success?

While the "American Idol" alum took home three awards at last weekend's Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, she wasn't even nominated for Entertainer of the Year. In fact, no women were.

"I know several amazing female artists who should have won that award over the years and weren't even nominated," said Underwood. "I know how hard it is to be a woman in this industry. I don't want to take anything away from the guys, but as a woman you do have to work much harder than the men. Plus we have to do it in heels and all."
